Around this time of year I begin to think about what daily devotional book I'd like to use for the coming year. I'm currently re-visting an old favorite and thought I'd share it with you. It's written by husband and wife authors, E. Michael and Sharon Rusten. Here's a link at Tyndale House Publishers for more information: The One Year Christian History.
From the book's Introduction:
"In this book we highlight an event associated with each day of the year. These events teach us something about God and His dealings with human-kind..."And, as the Back Cover states:
"Each devotional will make you wonder, WHAT WILL GOD DO TODAY?"
One of the features that separates this devotional from others is that each day is a new story so you can begin on any day of the year. (It would also make a great gift for the history buff on your list!)
As stated in a previous post, nothing should ever replace God's Holy Word, however, reading additional material does lend variety to the time you spend with the Lord. (see: Previous Post, KEYS).
May the Lord bless you,
Pamelyn
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about
with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience
the race that is set before us."
with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience
the race that is set before us."
Hebrews 12:1
I have this book Pamelyn, I never thought to use it as a devotional. Thanks for mentioning this. Merry Christmas to you. ~ Abby
